On June 5, 2020, the 49th World Environment Day, in order to follow the spirit of the NPC and CPPCC in 2020, win the battle against environmental pollution, truly implement the new development concept that prioritizes ecological protection and green development, fully promotion the regional environmental harnessing, and practice the commitment of spreading green concept and green industry to the world, GEM organized nearly 20 on-site activities in a dozen of parks, communities and campuses under the theme of "GEM is on the move for a beautiful China!" that involved more than 3000 people to participate. The purpose was to propagate GEM's circular economy philosophy and green industries to the world, call on all sectors to actively engage in the battle against environmental pollution, so as to create a better environment and make contribution to the construction of a beautiful China!

CCTV takes you into the secret of GEM's turning wastes into treasure

In recent years, Wuhan citizens have been educated on environmental protection knowledge by having the access to environmental protection facilities. In the World Environment Day this year, a CCTV reporter will run a live stream to take you into GEM's Wuhan park and know about how environmental facilities work, how waste home appliances and scrapped cars are treated here in a harmless manner, as well as the whole process of their recycling.

As one of the first companies that open their environmental facilities to the public, GEM Wuhan Park invited the environmental protection department of Xinzhou District, community resident representatives, and the families of some company employees to participate in the Public Visit Day on June 5. Participants were told the significance of garbage classification and recycling, and were led to accurately classify the waste batteries and empty mineral water bottles brought from home. The theme was to call everyone to contribute love and efforts to environmental protection.

On the World Environmental Day, the Enterprise Service Center of Xinzhou District, Wuhan organized industrial enterprises of Xinzhou District to hold the Cooperation Workshop Among Industrial Enterprises in Xinzhou District in GEM Wuhan Park. More than 50 enterprises participated in the workshop, including Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group, Wuhan Iron & Steel River North Group Metal Products Co., Ltd., Zhongye South Engineering Technology Co., Ltd. Many enterprises expressed their intention to the cooperation, further expanding the scrapped steel recycling market of GEM Wuhan Park.

By upholding the flag of green industry, GEM Wuhan Park is a pioneer in the practice of the Green Manifesto who is committed to revitalizing Wuhan by virtue of the green industry and competing to become an example in the protection of Yangtze River!

On the World Environment Day on June 5, more than 500 environmentalists from local administrative group, business group, environmental protection volunteers, community residents, on-campus students, employees' family members, and media representatives were invited by the Jingmen park, the Jiangsu cobalt park, the Jiangxi park, the Wuxi park, and the Henan park of GEM to attend the Public Visit Day themed "creating a better world by making the sky brighter, mountains greener, water clearer". Participants were led to learn the art of GEM's art of transforming wastes into treasure, making more people understand GEM. The knowledge about energy saving and environmental protection was extensively publicized to involve everyone into environmental protection, improve the public awareness of environmental protection so that they can voluntarily practice the way of green production and living.

Go out to speak volumes for environmental protection

To make the company known by the public, GEM needs not only passionate invitation, but also bold going-out. Embracing our green commitment, we publicize our knowledge about environmental protection, communicate our green industries, and take the initiative to reach the public.

On June 1, the launching ceremony of the "June 5" Environmental Day cum Themed Publicity Week, organized by the Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment and the Yangtze River Basin Ecological Environment Supervision Committee, was held in Hankou River Beach. GEM (Wuhan) Urban Minerals Recycling Industry Park Development Co., Ltd. attended the meeting as the representative of companies with public access. Huang Liangqu from GEM Wuhan Park, as one of the eight "most beautiful environmental volunteers", went on the stage and received the souvenir envelope.

On June 5, the Inner Mongolia park of GEM organized the open environmental protection eduction event in the Fuxi School of Dalate. During the event, children were told about how incorrect disposal of waste electronic products can jeopardize the environment and the meaning of garbage classification. They also learned the GEM Green Manifesto. Meanwhile, everyone made a statement to implement garbage classification from then on.

On June 5, GEM Shanxi Park invited employees of the sub-district office, community leaders, community representatives from Taiju Community as well as GEM employees to participate in the Public Visit Day. Every participant picked up every piece of garbage in the courtyard and classified them, making sure every piece of garbage could find their "home". Meanwhile, in order to make the feel the power of recycling, an art show of garbage artworks was offered, in which wastes were given brand new artistic effect by cutting, designing, and producing.

In the morning on the World Environment Day, the "June 5" Environment Day cum the Launching Ceremony of the Yangtze River Ecological Corridor in Taixing city, during which GEM (Jiangsu) Cobalt Park made an environmental commitment.

Protect our home by giving one to electronic wastes

On June 5, the GEM Green Manifesto was released globally. All parks of GEM immediately organized the learning of this manifesto and held a collective swearing ceremony. All GEMers commit that they will uphold the industrial tenet that "resources are finite but recycling is infinite"; practice green technologies, green production, and green life; promote garbage classification; actually recycle electronic wastes; become a practitioner of green industry in GEM in every aspect.

The commitment of GEMers is reflected in their solid actions. On June 5, the "June 5" World Environment day cum the Electronic Waste Recycling Event was held in GEM Jingmen park Wuhan park, Yuyao park, Chenzhou park, and Ezhong park. More than 800 employees were involved in the event to recycle 550-odd kilograms of electronic wastes, including small batteries, power banks, mobile phones, computers, electric fans, refrigerators, washing machines.

Every big accomplishment is made by achieving small milestones. GEM has set up "e-waste recycling stations" in all parks and advocates that all employees should take action to hand in electronic wastes as their daily work, make continuous contributions to resource recycling, and truly follow the President Xi's guidance of "turning wastes into resources and making things possible". We believe that every milestone of each GEMer will lead to the great accomplishment of GEM in its green philosophy!

GEM is on the move for a beautiful China! The success of this serial events of "June 5" World Environment Day better consolidates the green commitment of GEM. All GEMers will truly implement the concept of green development, evoke more power in the action of environmental protection, and strive to construct a community that binds human's fate. It will be a practitioner of green industry by developing the circular economy and communicating the culture of circular economy to the entire society!
